Good Food = Great skin, better athletic performance, better grades, increased strength.
Get the connection! Ok – this all sounds too easy, too simple… But it works, so read on and take in these facts and then understand to get great results you will have to change your eating habits and follow these guidelines.
Don’t Like How You Look?
People Getting Down On You?
Hate pimples? Sick of your teacher getting on your case for staring out the window in class? Bummed about your grades? Ticked off at seeing a scrawny kid staring back at you in the mirror?
Then Stop Eating Garbage!
Listen up the answer may be simpler than you think. Maybe as simple as swapping from a cheerios breakfast to having a great protein smoothie instead; eating stuff that actually grows out of the ground instead of busting open a packet. So stop in front of your fridge and check what you are eating and drinking first next time you think you have to go to a dermatologist to fix your skin or get some fancy new gel on your hair to make it look cool.
Stop Believing That Packaged Processed Foods Are Actually Good For Your Body
What to avoid when you open the fridge or pantry door
Hidden Sugars
Most packet foods even savory ones and especially most foods labeled” low fat are packed with sugar. Just flip over the back of the packet and you’ll see: sugar, honey, inulin, sorbitol, fructose, high fructose corn syrup, glucose and any number of unpronounceable words. Many of these words will be various types of sugar. In fact the longer the list the less like real food, what you’ve picked up is!Avoid these packets like the plague, especially if the total sugar count is above 5gr per serve .There are exceptions, but in general this is a good rule to follow. Why? When you see sugar think zit city, brain fog, fat gain and get the heck out!
MSG
This is a flavor enhancer food manufacturers put in food packets to make you come back for more! MSG is a neurotoxin which means that it excites brains cells to death! That’s not great for your report card. MSG hides under 600 hundred different names, so it is real tricky to pick up. Here are a few of them: glutamate, glutamic acid, and E620, E621, yeast extract. Avoid this additive it is toxic, addictive, and no friend of your waist line.
Hydrogenated Oils
These junk oils hide everywhere in processed foods, including the spread we’ve all been told for the last 30 years is healthy- margarine. Avoid anything made with these oils if you want to look and feel good. The body does not recognize them as food and it sets in motion inflammatory processes that wreak havoc in your body.
So Now You Know the Enemy, Here Are the Good Guys
Veggies
We’re not going there are we? Yup! The more colorful the better. Things like carrots, beetroot, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, capsicum, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, peas, cauliflower broccoli spinach, kale, and all the green stuff. These beauties are chock full of skin loving, immune boosting nutrients your body needs to stay strong and fight infection. Have 5-7 portions the size of the palm of your hand each day.
Fruit
These make convenient snacks and have the same benefits. 2-3 portions per day will do. They are high in sugars and although the sugars are natural, they’re still sugar.
Protein rich foods
These build muscle! They help produce hormones, support healthy skin and hair. Think free range eggs, free range chicken, wild caught fish and sea food, meat, nuts seeds, beans and dairy. Dairy can be problematic if you have bad skin. Avoid it for two weeks and see if it makes a difference.
Healthy Fats
60% of our brain is made up of fat! Our cell membranes are made up of fats. Getting the right fats is crucial for our brains to work right, to keep us cool with life and not moody, forgetful or absent minded. Some fats we can’t make in our bodies and so we have to get them from our food. These are called essential fats.
The best sources of these are Cold water fish like: wild salmon, tuna, herring, cod, sardines and anchovies. Because we have polluted our oceans the smaller ones are better because they are less likely to be contaminated with heavy metals.
Vegetarian sources like: flaxseed or linseed, hemp seeds, chia seeds, walnuts and pumpkin seeds.
Other great fat sources include: avocado, which is brilliant for good clear skin and all nuts and seeds. Get these as fresh as possible and keep them in the fridge or freezer, they go rancid quickly
Some More Really Great Food Sources
Green vegetables, Brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds, shell fish like oysters are especially important because of their magnesium, selenium and zinc content. Selenium is important to crank up the thyroid for good healthy metabolism and weight. Magnesium and Zinc are important for so many processes in the body I couldn’t name them all, suffice it to say they are especially important in puberty or any time the body is growing rapidly.

Supplements for Teenage Boys
Magnesium and Zinc are important
You need to know that if you want to have great skin, avoid eating disorders, the blues, colds and flus, help your brain function best, stay fit, build muscle, and reduce fat- magnesium and zinc are crucial so make sure you get enough!
Getting enough nutrients
Between the way we’ve polluted the oceans, the air and depleted our soils with unsustainable farming practices, and the hectic lives we lead it can be tricky to get all the nutrients we need from our food alone even if we really well. That’s why I recommend supplementing diet with nutritional supplements.
There are a lot of supplement on the market and if you are a teenager there are a lot of companies targeting you with for example various protein powders of dubious quality that you’d do better staying clear of.
