So – What is Menopause?
In essence menopause is the ending of your ability to reproduce. It usually happens in your midlife, around your late 40s or early 50s and signals the end of your fertile phase.
This means that your ovaries no longer operate as they did and the associated symptoms can last some years when you may experience hot flashes, mood swings, a lack of energy – all of which have the potential to make you feel down and depressed.
There Are Ways To Really Help You Through The Menopause Years
So, what can be done to enable you to enjoy these years of hormonal change?
Here are a few brief tips:
- Stay active –get 20 minutes aerobic exercise a day 6 times per week and strength train2-3 times per week. Studies show exercise increases the brain chemicals that support healthy mood and brain factors that help keep our brains sharp
- Get your hormone levels checked – I provide symptom questionnaires to my clients and send them for testing if necessary to determine their precise hormone profile and then tailor a programme to help address imbalances with dietary and lifestyle changes and or specific nutrients and botanicals as necessary
- Stay connected – strong supportive social networks help women tremendously in journeying through menopause in an empowering way
